Well, I suppose all good project managers will have some projects that don't meet their deadlines. No, Frank Colombo, not you!!
The plethora of holidays next week, the tardiness of some of our suppliers, the emergence of some strange "clunking" noises from Matt & Sue's Cruiser and the need for them to make some mods to the load bay has led us to postpone our departure by a week until the 11 May. Once the decision was made, both Kaz and I enjoyed a full night of unbroken sleep! It now at least will let us have a trial run to Clarens in our Cruiser which should be finished on Wed next week. Still not holding my breath though.
At least now the to-do list looks more manageable and Kaz will be able to finish up at the Haggies before we go.
Our route is also subject to change as the last we heard the level of the Limpopo river at Mapai was about 2m and too deep even for 2 Land Cruisers. so plan B is to exit Kruger at the Giriyondo border and head for the Mocambiquan coast via Massingir. Both routes are new to us so it really doesn't matter either way.
I know that the trend of posting to the blog is erratic, so Andor, please don't hold it against us if we don't post every 8 days!

Tick, tock...tick, tock
The "to-do" list is not getting any shorter, but at least some pieces of the jigsaw are in place. We now have the first couple of nights accommodation in the Kruger Park sorted. We also have return flights from the UK booked. I couldn't believe how quickly the air mile tickets are gobbled up necessitating a stop over in Cape Town. Anyway this gives us a good excuse to spend new year 2009 in Cape Town.
The Cruiser is still busy being tarted up, the Engel fridge has been serviced and the laptop is in for an upgrade.
The fourth of May looms!!!

Retired?...Unemployed? No...a List Manager
Phew! I can't believe it's only a week since my last day at the bank. How did I find time to work? Visited the Cruiser last week, looking good, the canopy is on, drawer system in and roof rack on. Next is the dual battery, the roof top tent and the rear bumper with dual wheel carriers.
Must say, my first couple of days at home were really strange, a bit like losing a limb really, but it's growing back!!
Having some time to do some research so we're starting to get a clearer idea of our route. Met our travelling companions for breakfast on Sunday (will link to their blog as soon as I work out how) and had a family farewell braai at my sister Tessa's house Sunday afternoon. Very nice but very hectic social calendar to see people before we head off.
Anyway better go update my lists now.
